5/21 Money Monday

Last week was a definite Splurge week around here.  Son1 received his AS degree, Son2 and two nieces all graduated high school, so I wrote a few graduation checks and we threw a celebration steak dinner for 10.  A great milestone week for some of my very favorite people, but not at all a cheap week.  We did the dinner at home vs a restaurant to keep some of the cost down, but still. lol

I did manage to send in a rebate, feed the $5 Tin two bills, and feed the Dime Bottle a few dimes.  That was all the 'saving' that happened last week.  We have great memories and I'm not mad about it.  That's why we save most of the time, to splurge some of the time.  I will, however, buckle down a bit more over the next few weeks as Son1's rent and Son2's tuition payment are looming large.

5/18 Firsts and Finals

*CoverGirl Total Tease mascara  Nope.  The wand has a 'regular' brush on one side and a weird 'teaser comb' on the other side to separate.  I kept poking myself with the teaser comb while trying to apply the mascara with the brush.
*L'oreal Age Perfect Cell Renewal  rose tone mask and cream  First, it smells fantastic.  I would buy this as a perfume.  The mask is soothing and the cream is rich, but not heavy.  Very nice.
*Ojon Rare Blend Oil for hair  I love this!  My hair was just highlighted, which can make it freak out a bit.  This made my hair stay soft, shiny, and smooth without making it look greasy.

*Ojon oil

*Total Tease

4/16 Money Monday

*Received a total of $5.84 in rebates, which went into savings.

*Cashed $20 out of Ibotta, which is sitting at Paypal as a surprise for Husband.

*Finished off another of those annoying prepaid GCs by adding its weird amount to my Paperbackswap account.

4/13 Firsts and Finals

*Christophe Robin cleansing purrifying scrub with sea salt  This is weird to use, but gives wonderul results.  It's like a sugar scrub in a jar, you rub a little on wet hair, massaging into scalp.  Then you wet the scrub and it turns foamy and rinses away.  My hair feels squeaky clean and I can go 3 days between shampoos.  It's crazy high, though, at $55 for 8 oz.
*Clinique Color Pop Lip in Plum  Color's okay, but this lipstick is very thin and doesn't last very long.  It is moisturizing, which is nice, just be aware you'll need to reapply every few hours.
*elf Gotta Glow Lip Tint  A fun product to try, this goes on clear, then changes to a perfect color for you.  We tried the pink and it was a little too pink for my taste, but Diva's pink was perfect for her.
*Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink in Poet  This stays like a champ.  After a few hours, it feels a little drying, as most mattes do, but not nearly as bad as others (looking at you, Stila).
*Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lip in Really Rose  sigh  This matte does not dry the lips and lasts and lasts and lasts.  I put it on after morning coffee, don't touch it up, and still have to take it off at the end of the day or I will still have it on in the morning.  It has serious staying power.  This color is a perfect MLBB and a new permanent resident of my handbag.
*Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser  I like this, but not enough to justify that price.  It does shrink the pores, but it's also formulated for oily skin and makes my normal skin a bit too dry.  Oilier girls would probably love it.

*Maybelline Color Tattoo Crayon  The tattoo line has great color and lasts all day.  The crayon is no exception.  I did not like how the crayon drug on the eye, though.  It seemed too dry and pulled the lid.

*Pixi matte lip

4/9 Money Monday

*Received a $25.92 check from Shopathome, which went into savings.

*Bought vitamins and supplements for the family at 90% off thanks to a Walgreens clearance.

*Bought Son1 a blender for his new apartment and immediately sent the rebate off.

*Bought two half-gallons of milk that were just $0.75.  The date was two days after I purchased and my kids will blow through that before it goes bad.

4/6 Firsts and Finals

*Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Anti-wrinkle Booster Serum  ALL the heart eyes for this!  I have heard the raves and finally went for it when it was half-price at Ulta this week.  After one day, my pores are tighter and my skin feels amazing.  I am sold.  I was happy to get it on sale, but I would actually pay retail for this, which says everything.
*Marcelle micellar solution  This is okay, removes makeup, but not mascara.  It's much higher priced and doesn't perform as well as Garnier's version, so I won't repurchase this.
*Olay Regenerist Whip  Their tag line is 'feeling is believing' and it absolutely is.  This is lighter than air and absorbs instantly.  I'm sold and will definitely purchase.
*Rimmel Shake It Fresh mascara  Nope!  It's very thin, almost watery, and only makes my lashes look wet.  After 4 coats, I still couldn't see any improvement to my lashes.  Very hard pass on this one.
*stila Stay All Day Foundation  It did last, but it also made my skin dry, so I won't be purchasing this.

* Dr. Sheffield's Premium Natural Toothpaste  Other than the giggle it gave me when I heard The Nanny scream 'Mr. SHEFfield' in my mind, this was nothing special.  Certainly not worth a premium price.
*essence I Love Extreme Crazy Volume mascara  It's an adequate everyday mascara, but does NOT live up to its name.  I likely won't repurchase unless I need a filler at Ulta.
*Maui Moisture Shea Butter shampoo  It smells wonderful, but my hair didn't feel 'clean' and needed to be washed the next day.  This is a no for me.

*Juice serum, Olay Whip

*Shake It Fresh
